BMT ARGOSS maintains archives of global satellite-observed wind speeds, wave heights and water levels. These include observations taken from altimeter, scatterometers and other sensory equipment. Our archives can supply basic information as well as specific data to meet validation requirements.
Because satellite observations are irregular and incomplete in time and space they are not suitable for statistical analysis. However, due to its global availability and high quality, this type of data is acceptable for data validation purposes.
Benefits of satellite observation data:
- Validation of numerical models
- Fast access to metocean data
- Data can be provided for remote locations
- Works in-situ with conventional data
- Cost effective
- Basic metocean analysis
